Welcome!

Hi all! My name is Deanna Doane, but many people call me D or Sweet D. I am an avid trail runner, hiker, and lover of all things wild. I am a native to Jacksonville Beach, Florida but have spent most of my adult life being somewhat of a wanderer. Much of my time has been spent exploring up and down the east coast, looking for the very best trails to run and enjoy.

My running career started with joining the cross country team in high school. At the time that just meant road running short distances, but I slowly grew the itch to run longer just to see how far I could go. In 2020 I ran my first ultramarathon, a 50k on the local trails close to my hometown.  After that, I was hooked. As they say, "the rest is history" and in the last four years I have run over 30 official ultras, and 7 unofficial, self supported ultras. My longest race distance is 100 miles which I have completed four times. I currently hold two FKT's (Fastest Known Time), one on the 34 mile Grafton Loop Trail in Maine, and the other on the 62 mile Ocean to Lake trail in Florida.

It has become my life, my world, and my community. My love for trail running has also developed into a love for trail stewardship, because without volunteers to build and maintain these trails, they wouldn't be there for us to run on. I am a USFS certified chainsawyer and love to give back to these areas as often as I can.

My next goal is to complete the 1,108 mile Florida National Scenic Trail in the Fastest Known Time next February, 2025. I am so beyond excited for this adventure and ultimately to bring more awareness onto the Florida Trail, get more people exploring it, and volunteers/future trail maintainers.

About

What is Wandering Runner?

Wandering Runner is a community and lifestyle for other fellow wanderers. It is a place I hope to grow with sharing both trail stories as well as my favorite places on the Wandering Runner Retreats. With these guided trail running retreats I hope to offer a space where folks can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life while reconnecting with nature and themselves. These retreats revolve around wellness while taking you to the most scenic trails that area has to offer. Not to mention being surrounded by other like minded individuals. Besides daily trail runs,  there will be guided yoga classes focused on recovery, fully plant based catering, and trips to local swimming holes and waterfalls to enjoy the cleansing waters. These retreats are the ultimate adventure where you don't have to plan a thing!
